Fascinating Documentary Films to Watch

I've recently been binge watching documentaries films and found these to be some of the fascinating ones I think everyone should try to check out.

Movie Review: The Jungle Book

Lately Disney has been actively remaking their classic animated features into live action films for the modern audience. After Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent and Cinderella, it's now Jungle Book's turn to entertain the audience. I must admit I didn't actually watch the original animated film growing up. I've seen footage, clips of 'Bare Necessities', briefly know about the premise but that was the extend of my knowledge on the animated film. So I went with minimal knowledge and zero expectation for the film. I came out of the theaters well satisfied but not overly excited for the film. Read on for my full review.

Movie Review: The Perks of Being a Wallflower

After Bling Ring, I started looking for other movies Emma Watson was in and thought of checking this out. When this movie first came out in 2012, I thought this was going to be some highly complex independent movie that I will not enjoy. All that thought changed after I decided to watch this a few days ago.

Movie Review: The Bling Ring

Every once in a while I'd find out about films based on true crimes that interests me. I was trying to find other similar movies as Kings of Summer, teen films, and I was recommended this movie, The Bling Ring.

Movie Review: The Kings of Summer

Have you ever been in a situation where you just wanted to leave everyone behind and escape to your own world? Well, this was the premise of the Kings of Summer. I was a looking for some indie movies released recently to watch and came about the trailer for this. Looked interesting so I downloaded it.

Movie Review: How To Train Your Dragon 2

I got a chance to catch this movie for free last Thursday which was its premiere day over here. I hadn't watch animation in the cinema for a while as I felt usually the storyline would be more kid-friendly and they're not the blockbuster type of films that would look great on a big screen, unless they look visually stunning on 3D.

Movie Review: Edge of Tomorrow

Last Friday I decided to go watch End of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. I had no idea what to expect as I didn't watch any trailers nor have read on what the story is about. I did though check if the reviews for this film was high enough for me to try to watch it. 90% on Rotten Tomatoes sold me to go watch it.

Movie Review: The Hobbit - Desolation of Smaug

I manage to catch the preview screening of The Hobbit - Desolation of Smaug last night. Hehe. Thanks to a friend. I honestly didn't care about the first Hobbit when it came out. I only recently watched it on my iPad while I wait for my car to be serviced. Haha. It was not bad. Though I heard people say it was boring. Maybe cuz I took my time watching it. Now the new one is something to talk about.

Man of Steel - 2nd Trailer Released!

Have you guys seen this??!!!

Oh in case I've never mentioned this before, I'm a huge Superman fan! I've been following every single development of this movie. Has been a long wait. Hope it's worth it! Can't Wait! June 14th, 2013.

Movie Review - What to Expect When You're Expecting

Last Sunday I thought I'd treat my mum and sis to watch this movie at the cinema since my parents are suddenly into going to the movies nowadays. What I did know initially about the movie was that it was based on a best-selling book. So I thought, this can't be that bad. And look at the star-studded cast. Check out my quick review of this comedy after the break.

Movie Review: The Avengers 2D & Imax 3D

Updated with Imax 3D review below!

Yahoo! It's finally here! Summer movie season has started with the opening of The Avengers in cinemas this week. Malaysians are lucky enough to get the movie screened 1 week earlier than the US. Thanks to the persuasion of a friend, I kept myself awake and watched the midnight showing (My inner geek squealed with excitement). After introducing the main characters through multiple individual movies over the years, the first assembly finally happened. It has to be good right? But how good? Head on after the break for my full review.

Movie Review: Battleship

After the successes of the Transformers and G.I. Joe movies, another popular Hasbro product is brought to life into our silver screens. Battleship is based on the game where the players guess the coordinates of their opponent's battleships and ultimately eliminating their ships. Read on after the break for my thoughts on the film adaptation of this game.

Movie Review - Wrath of the Titans 3D

Wrath of the Titans is the sequel to 2010's remake of Clash of the Titans. The early success of the remake quickly spearheaded the development of this sequel. Reviews by critics doesn't seem positive for the sequel as seen at Rotten Tomatoes. However, because I really enjoyed the remake (and also I didn't have to pay for the tix ;p), I went to watch the movie without hesitation. I read somewhere that people who went to watch it enjoyed it so that didn't lower too much of my expectation. My review is after the break.

Movie Review - The Hunger Games

Last weekend I had the chance of watching The Hunger Games. It is based on the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy. According to my sis, the books were recommended by Twilight author Stephanie Meyer, making it anticipated by Twi-Hards as well. I read it made USD152.5 million on its opening weekend. That makes it right behind The Dark Knight for list of highest grossing weekend ever. The film stars today's rising young stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. as well as big names like Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci and Woody Harrelson. Read on after the break for my review of the movie.

Movie Review: Journey 2 - The Mysterious Island

I loved Journey to the Center of the Earth when it was released back in 2008. It was one of the first movie that utilises 3D technology back then. It was definitely a fun movie to watch in 3D. And I'm a fan of Brendan Fraser since the Mummy movies. He manage to be both an action and comedic hero. Ever since the first Journey hit $100 million at the box office, I was hoping they'd come out with a sequel. I followed every development of the sequel since then. And it's finally here! We Malaysian even get it a month ahead of the US release. Read my review after the break...

Movie Review - Jack & Jill

Yeah I wanna blog again, but I forgot to decide what I want to write about. Hehe. Oh well... I watched Jack & Jill on the new year weekend so maybe I'll try to write my review on it. If you're looking for simply a funny movie to watch, why not give it a try...

Now I'm sometimes influenced by Rotten Tomatoes' tomatometer when deciding to watch a show, but since MI4 sold out, this seemed like a proper alternative to bring my parents to watch. Only like 5% of positive reviews. Boy was I worried...

Adam Sandler plays twins where Jack turned out to have the better life than the sad and lonely Jill. It's Thanksgiving and Jill is visiting...or so they thought. Jill extended her stay and Jack now has to live with the embarassments Jill brings to his life. Simple premise.

My verdict...I actually enjoyed it! It's what you'd expect from an Adam Sandler movie. A funny family movie with actually a good message. Jill is of course the star of the show. The others are just to support the story. There's definitely lots of laughs in it. By the end of the show, Jill is the one you'd feel sorry for. I guess when you watch a movie with low expectations, it doesn't turn out to be as bad as you'd expect it to be. So enjoy!
